Adulam Welsh Baptist Chapel, the oldest Llanelli chapel, was founded in 1709 and erected on land given by William Matthews of Felin Isaf. It was the first nonconformist church to be built in the whole of the Llanelli area – long before the industrial revolution changed the face of the town forever.
Built in 1780, the first minister was Revd E. Davies. The chapel was enlarged under the same ministry in 1797 and again in 1827 under the Revd H. Williams.
In 1830 the chapel was rebuilt under the Revd D. Rees and enlarged again in 1852 under the Revd Rees.
A Sunday School was built 1870 under the Revd T. John and between 1894-95 it was renewed and enlarged under the same ministry.
The chapel is located opposite Felinfoel House, [now Y Plas], one time home of Richard Nevill.
